Why some are STUCK!

I get involved in many “on-line” discussions with many who could only be described as STUCK in their beliefs of unproven theory. Many discussions involve “the mind” and how it works. I find many of these discussions interesting however… it’s humorous to me to see how “convinced” some people become in some of the most fantasy filled THEORIES presented by some authors.

Placing the human mind and our resulting behaviour at the center of ANYTHING is absolutely ridiculous. If you follow the link below Michio Kaku describes in GREAT detail how wrong humans have been and will continue to be when we assume WE are the center of ANYTHING.

Michio Kaku – “There are many examples of old, incorrect theories that stubbornly persisted, sustained only by the prestige of foolish but well-connected scientists…. Many of these theories have been killed off only when some decisive experiment exposed their incorrectness. .. Thus the yeoman work in any science, and especially physics, is done by the experimentalist, who must keep the theoreticians honest.”

So today’s post isn’t about Heinrich/Taleb or any other mistaken author with unsupported theories (the list is LONG in the Safety Management Field) but very much about why we tend to believe several ridiculously simplistic notions. We have a LONG history of this fantasy explanation of what we don’t yet understand by authors who present unsupported ideas. The common mistake is the addition of a “but.”
“The theory works except when…” basically means it’s WRONG.
Enjoy the video and just KNOW the the death of the universe will NOT be caused by man.
